At Draper of Glastonbury, we are a family-run business that specialises in manufacturing the highest quality handmade sheepskin slippers for men and women in our factory in Somerset. Established in 1937, we are the oldest makers of sheepskin slippers in the UK, and our team of skilled craftsmen and women have generations of experience working with shearling sheepskin in the local area. Each pair of handcrafted sheepskin slippers is made entirely by hand, and they take over four weeks to make from start to finish.
Each leather, suede, and shearling sheepskin is selected for its individual properties and will vary depending on weight, size, and thickness. Our skilled cutters will avoid marks from scars or tick marks on the skins, and select only the best skins to use to make our slippers. They are then stitched together inside out, to form the basic slipper, using double stitching to ensure they are held together securely and are built to last. The slippers are then hand turned and hand-lasted (put onto foot-shaped moulds) which are then put through extreme heat to force the leathers into the shape and fitting that the slipper should be. Finally they are passed through a rigorous quality control, and only the best slippers make it to be sold.
